| VH Black Pebbled
Vinyl (a.k.a. Hasselblad Black) |
Back to color chart |
| This is the leatherette our long time customers have been asking for, and we expect it will be one of the most often requested materials. It's specifically made as an accurate replacement for the factory covering on the classic Hasselblad series SLR's. So on the Hasselblad page is is called "Hasselblad Black". But it's such a perfect covering for a wide range of other cameras that it will appear here and elsewhere as "VH Black". |

| The
leatherette on the left is the original factory covering, and on the
right you can see our VH Black vinyl. It is the same all-vinyl
substance as the
original, and the same pebble texture. Actually, that's not quite
true. . . when the original coverings were made, it wasn't possible to
emboss calandered vinyl with the same detail that can be done
today. So, the new VH Black leatherette has a somewhat more
defined, crisper texture. You can see the improvement if you look
carefully. Because this is a thin, all-vinyl film with no fabric support, it's a very easy material to work with if you will be cutting it yourself for a special project. It's available in our standard 9X12 inch sheets, with adhesive backing. Larger pieces are available on request. |

The VH Black is a good approximation of the original coverings on many cameras. Some examples include: Minolta Autocord TLR's (shown at left). Yashica and YashicaMat TLR's. Argus C and C3 series. Many Russian and Ukrainian cameras, including the Kiev 60 and Kiev 88 series. Many folding cameras of the early and mid 20th century. Nikon F and many more. Although it's our thinnest material, the matte pebbled surface does a good job of hiding irregularities on the camera body, like those little covering plates, screw and rivet heads, and seams and edges in the body casting. |
