"Contax Black", shown here on a 139 and winder,
is a leather favored by many Contax and Yashica users.
It's not
the
thin, fragile vinyl originally supplied with your camera, but a
composite leather with a consistent thickness of about .4 millimeters.
The appearance is remarkably close to the soft gloss of the
original, but without the spongy feel and limited service life.
Plus it has the toughness, tactile sense and smell of genuine
leather. This is the permanent solution to your peeling
cover problem, while maintaining the original look of your camera.
The cost of the "Contax Black"
kit is $19.50 for the body kits and $9.50 for the winder kits. If
you're
thinking of selling your camera or winder, these kits will pay for

coverings for the matching winders on the FX-D, FX-103, and
Contax
139 and original RTS. The Data Back leather for the 139 and RTS
is available, but the camera owner will have to cut these parts to fit,
depending on the amount of disassembly chosen.

class . . . and flamed on the Contax forum. This leather is a completely natural material, and the pattern and coloring will be unique on each leather kit. This is true to a lesser extent for all the leathers, so your kit will never look exactly like the sample kits shown here. If you insist on an absolutely consistent pattern, color, and texture, then you should stick to the bottom three categories on the color and material chart. |
