ROLLEIFLEX and ROLLEICORD Recovering Service |
Including Autocord, Yashica TLR's and comparable cameras |
Although few photographers still make a living with them, interest in using and restoring these classic cameras remains strong. (This page applies equally to Rollei "clones" including the Minolta Autocord and Yashica TLR's.) The newest version of "Black Beauty Calfskin", shown at left, is an excellent substitute for the original factory black embossed leather. It's the only choice for those restoring their camera to its original appearance and feel, and the only leather requested by Rollei repair specialists we have worked with. In fact we've nicknamed this leather "Rollei Black" for some time. Like the original covering, "Rollei Black" is genuine leather. There were several textures of leather put on these cameras up to 1965, and this leather is a bolder grain, closer to that on earlier cameras. Of course it looks and feels great on any Rollei, even those post-1965 with synthetic leatherette. The cost for stripping, cleaning and recovering in Rollei Black is US$129. |

When you send us your camera, the old leather parts are removed, and the old shellac cleaned from the exterior. If the exposure guide on the back is loose, it is re-glued in place before the new leather goes on. Nothing else is removed; the riveted feet are left in place with the new leather placed over and around them. If your camera ever needs service, the camereleather synthetic adhesive will allow the front leather to be removed with gentle heat, and re-applied. What's the best reason to recover your Rollei? You will get motivated to get outside and take some pictures. From the emails we get, we know lots of recovered Rolleis get spooled up within minutes of being unpacked. |

| Where is Cameraleather's shipping address?
It's
in Burlington, Vermont USA . . . but
the first step is to email us
at the link below and request the service of your choice. You'll
then know our specific shipping details, and we'll then know what is
coming in, and when. This is very important for both of us when
valuable equipment is being sent. Arranging details fully
and in advance is better than posting a mailing address
here. Why? Otherwise, parcels arrive unannounced and
unsolicited, sometimes with no instructions, no return email address,
no payment, and in one case--no return address! It also insures
that the covering of your choice is ready for your camera when it
arrives. |
| More
details: Equipment
sent in should be well packed and insured for full value. We
don't have any particular preference for one carrier;
within the U.S. you may send by USPS, FedEx, UPS or DHL. Any
parcel sent should include a tracking number. Parcels from overseas can be sent as above, with "for repair and return to sender" clearly marked on any Customs form. This original form will be included in the return parcel to prevent any Customs charges upon return in your home country. Items from overseas should also be insured for actual value, and will be sent back insured for the same amount. |
